Description
For decades, Pakistan has received displaced Afghans, creating one of the most protracted refugee crises in the world; it hosts 1.4 million officially registered refugees and as many as 3.5 million displaced Afghans in total, according to government estimates. Afghans have suffered more than 40 years of conflict, natural disasters, chronic poverty, food insecurity and most recently the COVID-19 pandemic. Violence in Afghanistan is worsening in intensity and spreading in reach – causing even more human suffering and displacement. For smooth implementation of the project, GEESE conducted Rapid Need Assessment (RNA) with the representatives of organization worked with Afghan refugees, Shora members and Afghan migrants of Sheikhabad, Khaki and Ichrian camps in order to get updated profile of camps indicating desired information like total HHs, Population, names of hamlets, hamlet wise population, tribes, # of grocery shops, # of Tailoring shops and # of cloth shops. A Rapid Need Assessment (RNA) report was prepared and submitted to Al Tirmizi Trust. In coordination with Commissionerate of Afghan Refugees (CAR) office, the project team of GEESE started the distribution of free breads to identified households in Sheikhabad camp from 5th Ramadan; and daily distribution was planned and held between Asar and Iftar during the month of Ramadan.
