There is a need to incorporate participatory approaches into programming in order to build capacity, enhance performance, expands, stakeholder ship, and ensure institutional accountability. It is highly advantageous to use a uniform method and refine it to the country context in order to promote open participation of citizens and local government in the development process. Overall this project was designed to inform, sensitize and mobilize general public and stakeholders, especially female voters, about the importance of female voter participation in the elections. It was implemented in 24 polling stations of NA-21 constituency of district Mansehra of KP with a focus on those polling stations, where female voters’ turnout was less than 30 percent in 2008 election. Project met the objectives and completed in given timeframe with direct beneficries of 742,674 including 320,762 females and 421,912 males. Designed set of activities were carried out in field which support to promote the citizens’ participation especially female participation in general election 2013. Through capacity building, continuous efforts and mobilization GEESE achieved the targets in allocated time and make a considerable raise of 106% in female voter turnout. According to many beneficiaries, this is the first time that their communities have had the opportunity to identify and prioritize the barriers in female voting at their respective polling station which results in increased turnout.
